Remote work in administration
Remote administrative work means carrying out administrative functions — case management, documentation, communication with customers and candidates, coordination — without being physically in the office, relying on collaboration tools and on processes that leave a written record of each step. It is not a different kind of work, but the same function with a higher demand for organisation and communication.
Why I consider it important
A well-organised administrative role works the same remotely as in the office, because its raw material is information, not presence. What changes is that questions are no longer answered in the corridor: they have to be anticipated, written down, and the status of each case left visible to the rest of the team. For the company, remote administration widens the available team and reduces costs; for the person, it demands autonomy, discipline in record-keeping and the ability to communicate clearly in writing.
How I apply it
I work with each case's status updated in the system, not in my head, so any colleague can pick up where I left off. I write messages with all the information needed to avoid back-and-forth, group calls into time slots and keep synchronous channels (Teams, phone) for what truly needs them.
Concrete examples
UOC, through SEPAL2021–2023
fully remote management of the selection of 250 associate lecturers over two hiring rounds: posting vacancies, verification calls, interview scheduling, finalists' documentation and a single mailbox, with deadlines met and no presence at the university.
INDIBA2023–present
handling technical service cases with customers across Spain by email, phone and CRM, where the case status in Dynamics 365 is the shared reference between workshop, logistics and administration.

Frequently asked questions
Which administrative functions can be done remotely?
Practically all of those that work with information: case and incident management, quotes and invoicing, documentation, recruitment, email and phone support, cross-department coordination. Those requiring physical handling (receiving goods, cash) cannot.
What does an administrative team need to work remotely?
A system where each case's status is visible (CRM, ERP or equivalent), processes defined in writing, agreed channels for urgent and non-urgent matters, and people used to documenting what they do.
How do you demonstrate real remote-work experience?
With roles performed entirely remotely and measurable results. In my case, two 250-person hiring rounds managed with no physical presence, with deadlines and documentation under control.
